I have a red 2004 Roadster. The paint on the plastic side mirrors has really oxidized and the color looks faded. I've tried various waxes and polishes, but the shine doesn't last more than a couple of weeks. Any ideas? Are there any covers other than those black carbon fiber covers on Ebay?

 

the paint on the mirrors and gas lid is different than the rest of the car, it is a coating that does not have clear coat on it. best bet is to get it repainted or get a cover.

 

Why does Nissan use the crappiest paint in the world?

 

Id look for aftermarket carbon fiber mirrors. They are sooo nice. But then again it might look rice if your all stock with carbon fiber mirrors.

 

repaint them and their stalks - that black plastic blows. should be about $100-$150
at a reputable shop.

 

Welcome. Its common knowledge that the mirrors are NOT clear coated. Also understand that red is susceptible to damage from ultra violet radiation.

 

Even the G35's in laser red...the mirrors paint isnt clear coated and it just sucks.I am going to get mine repainted soon.I have polished mine untill i dont think i can polish anymore.

 

It sucks, about once a month I polish them up, and my rag is always red, how long before i have no paint left on the mirrors.
