Default Take apart gauge cluster

I bought my z last weekend and the gauge cluster is all smeared up. It seems like it's on the inside though. The dealership said it was that way when they bought it and had no idea why. Looks like someone cleaned it with an armor-all wipe and it's just smeared...the problem is that it doesn't come off so which leads me to believe it's somehow in the inside. I'm not exactly sure how that would happen...but it's the only somewhat logical thing I can come up with. How do i take the cluster apart and or get a new plastic cover for it?

Thanks in advance guys

Bad photo but you can see what i'm talking about in the pic.

Go straight to "Section 6" of this thread which has complete and detailed instructions on how to take the cluster off, take it apart and put it back together again.

You won't need to go as far in the dissassembly process but you can stop where you need to and then reassemble from there.

If you end up not being able to clean that off, let me know, I have a spare cluster that I don't expect I will ever need to sell or use myself and I will sell you that clear plastic face cheap.

A factory service manual is good to have. Google. You may find one free.

How cheap is cheap? I'm thinking that i don't want to take this apart twice. Wouldn't mind having that piece around just in case i can't clean this one up.

Thanks for your help guys.

I will post a pic later today when I get home per forum rules. It's used but from what I remember, in overall good shape.
