Default Programming a key.. not the remote/FOB

Hi I have been on many internet forums to check out the Nissan 350Z key programming and everytime they just mention the Keyfob and not the key by itself. I guess the key provided with Nissan has a chip in it. So how do I program that key with the chip. Again I am not talking about the key FOB. Also, I want to do it myself and not pay the premium at the dealer.

thanks in advanced

The dealership.

You can't do it yourself unless you have the expensive hardware.

The dealership near me wanted like $100 to get the key and program it. I bought a blank key on ebay for $15 shipped and had a local locksmith program it for $40. The keys have a transponder chip in them so search the phone book or google local places that program transponder keys. The key FOB if you even wanted to do one is really easy. I know you didnt want info on it but its a good idea if you dont already have a spare to get one. They compe with directions and come from ebay for $25. Its a series of turning light locking doors and closing windows while pushing buttons on all of your key FOBS. Take 2 min tops

Its really not that bad. Just call around to different dealerships. The first one quoted me 150.00 (since it would be under an hour, so they just charge for one full hour of labor ). Another Dealer quoted me 45.00 and it was done in about 30 mins.
