Default nismo carbon fiber bodykit without rear wing: what do you think?

well, i am getting my nismo replica carbon fiber bodykit painted and installed this week.

would like to know your opinion.

1) should i just keep the rear wing on?

2) should i leave the rear wing off?

3) should i leave the rear wing and the rear bumper side wings off too

here is a photoshop pic of the rear wing off of the nismo car with my sf-winning wheels.

thanx to bigbadblacktrack for the photoshop pick!!!!

Looks great both ways, I like it without the wing a little better. Gives the car a very clean look. How much are you paying for the kit?

John, you know my thoughts on the nismo wing. If it was me, i would stick with everything EXCEPT the wing and get a wing by another manufacturer. The car looks clean w/o a wing as well.

Carbon the edges of the wing, keep the center white,
if you are going two tone, keep it clean... only accentuate what is neccesary if you are gonna get the kit painted white... then might i suggest you paint the edges of the front lip white and keep the nose section carbon.. it looked SICK when you had that carbon fascia piece in there...

think color combos... white base, carbon wing.. etc etc..

i'm going blue carbon with blue paint over some of the kit

Looks clean both ways (wing with and without). I would go with the wing if I was getting a full kit, also all paint matched to the car. Especially with a white car, it would look extremely clean!

Dont you have the OEM spoiler? Maybe you can try with that first and see how it looks.

Yeah, that wing is ugly... Car looks tough without a wing!

If you have to wing it, I personally think the wings that come off the back of the car like the Stillen or Veilside ver2 look the best.

And thank god, SOMEONE IS GONNA PAINT THEIR CARBON FIBER!

John350Z,

Please post lots of pics as soon as you have it installed. I'd like to know what you thought of this kit - fit and finish, CF quality, etc. Also, if you have someone else install it, did they have to do a lot of trim work to get it right?

BTW, how much did you pay for this from VIS and how long did it take to arrive after order?

Thanks,

Roark

i have the nismo style CF wing...i absolutely love mine...but there are equal and better alternatives...the wing is more aggresive than it is sleek

if you want sleek go with the stillen, veilside v2, or trial

all three of those keep the lines of the car..and i think thats important to you

am i wrong?

hey roark,

i just came back from my bodyshop and found that the front and side skirts were a good fit, very little or no modifications were necessary for these pieces.

the wing will be fitted tonight or tomorrow, but from the look of the other cf kits on the blue and red 350zs it looks ok. if there are any fitment issues, my bodyshop will shave the base and make it fit flush. but i don't anticipate anything since everyone else with the carbon fiber nismo wing have good fitments.

the rear bumper skirts however, just like the authentic nismo rear bumper skirts, doesn't fit perfectly like a glove, but my bodyshop is going to make a custom wood filling behind the skirt so that a screw from behind the bumper (a hole will need to be drilled) will go through and pull the rear skirt towards the rear bumper, so that the rear skirt will be flushed as much as possible.

Thanks. I can't wait to see pics (close ups of the joints would be great too.)

What did the kit cost per piece if you can get it that way? I'm not interested in the wing.

Regards,

Roark

everyone again, thank you for your inputs, it is greatly appreciated.

i am putting the whole CF replica nismo kit on my car.

it will look exactly like the r-tune nismo 350z when done without all the graphics of course. (2-tone white with carbon fiber)

the wing with the carbon fiber base,i believe, is a classic/sporty touch.

my two choices for kits were the nismo cf or the c-west n-1 full replacement bumpers kit with gt-2 wing. my car is a daily driver, so the c-west kit was ruled out since i love my car so low.

anyways, i haven't disappointed anyone at all yet with my mods so hopefully keep your fingers crossed that this turns out great!!!

i don't usually do two tone, but this kit will look sick with the two-tone. trust me.

Gotta have the wing... especially in carbon. Just leave the tips in unpainted just to show that it's made outta carbon.

Great,

Thanks for the info. I'll call them now.

If they won't part out the kit (sans rear wing) who would be interested in buying the wing from me?

I say keep the wing to complete the r-tune look. Now you just need to powder coat your sf-winnings black with polish lip to match the r-tune.... Did you ever get your cf mirror on?

Man, you have to trek out here sometimes after you get this all done!! Can't wait to see it.
