The Tommy Kaira Hebi Bebi Shift Knob Thread :D

Installed mine yesterday. Now I see why everbody raves about this ****. The mass of this thing dampens the normal vibrations and smoothes out the notchy shifting. It's almost like having a different transmission.

That's exactly how I feel about it. I'm not sure what the guys who say it's over rated were expecting but I have a hard time believing anyone who has one of these doesn't love it.

I may change my tune about it once I take it on a long road trip - with no leather covering it, I suspect it will get quiet warm from the trans heat.

just installed it today and i must say it makes a pretty big difference as far as smoother shifts, shorter throws, and less vibration. still trying to get a "feel" for it but i definitely like it compared to my torn up oem shift ****.. which is currently up for sale if anyones interested

Hmmm, interesting viewpoint. I don't see it as being a "coolness" thing at all. Visually, there's nothing spectacular about it. For me it has already confirmed "function over form". Shorter throw, smoother shifts, less vibration - what more could you want.

$200 is absolutely a big price for a shift **** but so far I've never regretted getting exactly what I want and not settling for less. Sometimes that means you have to spend more. I just try not to think about all the good things I could have bought with my $214. lol

Okay - anybody have any great ideas, suggestions, instructions, etc. on how to get the **** to line up properly?
I thought about threading a small nut on the shifter first, but I can't find one small enough to fit inside the opening in the bottom of the ****.

That's what I'm trying but a standard 10mm nut is pretty large and won't fit inside the based on the shift ****. If I could find some specialty hardware, I could probably find one that fit. Or maybe some kind of sleeve like the OEM one but longer.
