Default steering wheel cf inserts

The silver plastic part on my steering wheel is fading and looks horrible, stumbled accross this early and was wondering if anybody knew or could recommend a place to purchase these.

Just food for thought, the fitment on them is not fantastic. You will still see some silver if you dont paint the part black first.

Less expensive? Carbon fiber is not cheap. You could buy that carbon fiber vinyl and use that. Your going to pay about 35 bucks for a yard unless you find someone that has some spare. That or paint it.

That price is not bad considering: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...Q5fAccessories

I have the opposite reaction. The more I see it the less I want it. CF has it's place when you need strength and lightweight. CF overlays etc... seem to rank right up there with covering parts of your car with crushed velvet.

To each his own though.

The Z store is a good vendor and they have great customer service, but I ordered this part and the fitment is horrendous to say the least. First, the piece you see in the pictures doesn't even cover the bottom, only the top and front. There is a separate piece that goes on the bottom and on the set I ordered the front piece was way short of even reaching the bottom piece. There was a gap almost 3/4" of silver on the left. I cannot stress enough not to buy those.

Yeah that is exactly what I was getting at. There are not very many alternatives that look good. I would personally try wrapping them if your going for the carbon look.

Try getting some soft scotch bright and rubbing in the same direction as the brushing pattern. Should clean right up

yes people have.

there are vinyl overlays, and TONESTER (who is now a sponsor here) was testing a real CF overlay.

I don't see how the shape can be produced to look up to my standards, so I wouldn't recommend it.

also: you cannot purchase these parts of the wheel seperate from the wheel assembly.

I was going to buy a used steering wheel for ~100 instead and just replace it.

basically, the skin oils from your hand react and oxidize the finish.

all the 03s I have ever seen (a bunch) suffer from it.

New one from dealer for both sides cost $65. Why not just buy them and replace them yourself?

Has anyone actually ordered them?

I still cannot find them in the parts diagram, or a part number.
