Default Headlight Alignment Weirdness

Can't say I've ever spent to much time on headlight adjustment. But i wanted to get mine in check. I noticed my lights in the reflection of some cars that it almost looks light my right headlight is off in some angles its so out of wack.

I tried to adjust it. Got it as low as the left. But for some reason the right one curves up a good 2-3 ft at the end. The left is just perfectly straight.

My beautiful diagram. Anyone know why this is?

projector headights have the slant on purpose. the idea is to see the outside of the road better for signs and stuff and keep the left side a little lower to keep from blinding oncoming drivers. you cant adjust it out there is a cutoff piece behind the projector lense that make the beam that way. when you turn on the highbeams all that it is doing is moving the piece out of the way.

Properly adjusted headlights should look like this:

Each of the headlights will have a sloped cutoff... in the pic above, you can see the driver's side slope very clearly, but if you look closely you can see the passenger side slope also (it's directly above the tach)

Have you done anything to the bulbs lately? I would check to make sure that your bulb is correctly seated in your right headlight. You should be able to access by taking off the black fender liner, then removing the gray plastic access panel on the headlight.

After I blacked out my headlights, my cutoff on my right light looked somewhat like what you describe, and it turns out I didn't have the bulb seated all the way.

My headlights are blacked out. Lightwerkz did them for me. This may be the case.

I will look into this. I also had STi "Lenses" installed. Would those make a difference to anything other than the color?

No, aside from a sharper, more defined cut-off with a much better looking color band, the STi lenses should not impact your cut-off orientation.

Post a pic... we could probably make a better diagnosis that way.

No prob... if your camera has a "Timer" mode, you can park about 20-30' away from a wall, set timer on camera, then place camera on roof of car. Experiment until you get a good shot of the cut-off.

Good luck
