Default Typical cost to reclear hood?

I'm thinking about getting my carbon hood re clear coated. What is the typical cost of re clearing the hood? My hood is in good shape but everyone is telling me its something that will need to be done anyway.

Just looking for some estimates that you guys have paid before so I don't get ripped.

my shop charges 500 using Standox clear coats. most shops should charge around there. make sure you get quality paint, bc if the price is low theres a chance they are using low quality paints. just a heads up.

We do CF hoods here for $300 re-cleared using U-POL clear. It seems to work the best for CF is what we noticed.

For $500 bucks you can get a new hood.

What about painting? I assume a ton of prep work is needed so it won't be wavy. Haven't seen too many painted hoods that were 100%.

Thanks for all the responses. Yeah I have a CF hood and don't want to paint it, just get it recleared. It just good to hear what others have paid so I know what to expect. Being in the southwest part of Kansas there isn't a whole lot around here for choices.

I dunno... weave is almost never perfect. And if it's not perfect, it's an eyesore for me... I'd paint over it... In fact, I'd paint over almost any CF part, so I don't see why it would be out of the question for the OP to consider painting it.

a lot of prep work IS needed to paint carbon hoods depending on manufacturer. it all depends on the consistency of the gel coat but for the most part its not too difficult, just hours of sanding.

LOL! For sure! Funny you ask now because it is getting resprayed! A lady dropped her bike off the rack while going down the 5 fwy and I ran over part of it after 3 other cars smashed it to bits. No major damage but a few chips that her insurance is paying for. I will get those pictures to you and posted in a few of the forums when I get it back. Promise!

I actually wouldn't mind having it partially painted, just leave the raised vented part CF. I figure that painting the hood would be a lot more expensive than just a new clera. Right now I have other things I want to put my money toward on the ZR.

If a shop can do it for 200 or less I guess that wouldn't be totaly out of line as long as the clear is guaranteed not to yellow like I have seen so many CF hoods do. That is what I am worried about.
