Great pics showing progress. I am looking forward to a similar build but with the Super Leggera kit. Similar wide body concept. Replacement front fenders and add-on rear qtr's.
I hope they cut the rear fenders to make room for wider wheels. Can't afford wider wheels right now, so I will too use spacers for the meanwhile.

Looking forward to final pics. Good Luck!!!

I know you're probably really stoked to get your car back. But in this whole progress, besides from the obvious dis-satisfaction with the kit in general (in terms of fitment) is there anything that you regret in regards to this entire project, anything that you would have done differently if given another opportunity?

Yes there is. I told myself not to get a rep kit. I knew better, I made the fatal mistake of trusting the person selling the kit and went against my better judgement.

What I learned is. Rep kits are okay so long as its already installed on a car and all the work has been done already. I will never buy a kit unless, I can see it for myself, I know this is hard when your ordering from someone from across the country but when you spend this much money. They have to do better than "take my word for it".

If I get a new or used kit. They will have to be able to provide me with buyers that have a positive word about the company and their kits. Buy from a reputable dealer.

Wish I had known you were going to buy the kit from AI, I'd have filled you in on it. A former employee of M1 Auto told me a long time ago that the fitment on the Do-Luck widebody replica was absolutely terrible to the point that they couldn't get them sold due to the bad rep.

I actually bought it from M1 before they change their name to AI. Eric i believe was his name was the guy I was dealing with from M1 that went to AI. He ended up flaking on me then peter got involved. He told me that the parts he sent me were good fitment as well. He lied as well.

My body guy said that he had to go with the original rear bumper because the one that peter said fit well was worse. And the skirts. I believe the pictures speak for themselves. He said they were good and the fitment was spot on. Hell their so damn warped they look like the test track for the olympic luge competition.

That sucks, but atleast on a positive note your body man didn't throw his hands up and give up on it. I'm sure he charged you an arm and a leg for all the extra work but you'll be satisfied with the finished look.

Yes he did, but you are right the finished product will look SWEET! I paid 5K for all the work. $3600 for paint and $1400 for the mod work to get the kit to fit properly.

The original rear bumper that was shipped, when you put it on the car it was an 3/8 inch short on both sides where it met up to the fenders. In order to make it fit somewhat presentable, you had to press really hard on the center of the rear bumper and it would fit into place, of course you could hear lots of fiberglass cracking too.

Take another look at the pics, you will see lots of work done to the bumper, it was too narrow, he had to pull it out and set the bumper to keep the width of the car, he also had to lay more material down right above the plate and below the hatch. He said that it was really bad there and that he had to block it down to almost nothing and re glass it.

He said that he did something else but I dont remember.

You are correct though, he got it to fit great, with LOTS of work. Not just a sand, fit and spray.
