I was talking to member on the board and he thought maybe the Z was a 4 stage paint process. Last time I had the engine covers painted we used ppg and shot it with one color then just cleared. Personally i think it looks fine.

Can i use the same approach on the body kit? Please tell me your personal experience with this.

As far as I know, the body shop used the PPG system when they painted my engine covers and my NISMO body kit. They did mention that the color itself was a mix of like 6 different paint colors. One of them was a "pearl" color that they didn't have and had to special order to mix it. They had about 200 cans of different color paints too!

Here is an overhead pic of the spoiler and my decklid to compare:
You may want to PM McDuck as him and I were disscussing this before he got his painted.

Doc, I understand that the color is mixed from many cans to create the paint code, but did they physically shoot varoius layers of color? I know we didnt, and it came out ok, but I was told by someone else that you have to shoot varoius layers.

No, they only sprayed it on like any other paint color. No special layering.

MSO, I have got two prices on the Kaminari and I think that's the one I am going to go with but right now I have a bunch of other bills to pay (gutting and remodelling a new home plus the mortgage on my existing house) so maybe later in the winter when the car is going to be garaged anyway.
