mine (the speakers behind the top of both seats) never worked when I first got the enthusiast version of the 350z, does it only work with a sound system? thanks in advance.

You sure they don't work or they are just really really quite. I don't think those are the main speakers so you might think they are not working but they really are.

As weird as this sounds, my factory speakers did not work with my aftermarket headunit. Everything was wired up fine, adjusted the setting all the way to the rear speakers, nothing. Put some alpines in the back, they work fine now. I dunno why, but maybe thats what you got going on?

Of course they did, you have a warranty claim if they didn't.

Did you buy your Z new?

They don't work. Nissan just put them there for appearance purposes.

Exactly. A lot of people will tell you to not even worry about them. Just get a nice set of component fronts and call it a day.

My rear speakers work just fine. Never had a problem and it is definitely noticeable when they are turned down.

Mine worked but the perception from the driver seat is that they were quiet. I attributed that to the fact that they push the sound right into the back of the seat so when you are sitting there you don't hear much from them.

For a while I was running just my fronts (aftermarket component speakers) driven by an amp and it sounded fine.
