Default Bad paint job or just the quality of material?

I have aftermarket fiberglass sideskirts, and they are chipped up pretty bad on the bottom due to rocks or and all the other road junks that I round up... It's never happened to the oem ABS sideskirts though... Is this just a matter of fact for fiberglass kits or did my bodyshop do a bad job at painting it? Of most of the aftermarket side skirts (if not all), I don't ever see paint chips... I try to drive very slow at places where my car makes extreme noises when going thru a puddle of rocks and pebbles, but sometimes it's really inevitable. Anyways...... Hope someone can chime in.

The frp skirts aren't as durable as stock, but chipping is based on the paint. Bad prep, mil thickness too thin, bad cure, could be a lot of things.
