Irritating Door Rattle
Long Time Reader, First Time Poster
I recently purchased my 350z and after a few months of having it, I noticed this strange rattle in my passenger door. It only happens above 2800ish RPM and it drives me crazy. Is this a common defect? Anyone else with this problem? Any advice is appreciated.
P.S - This is a great forum and I am glad I found it.

I have a rattle over in that area too. I don't think it's coming from the door, though. have you ever had a passenger put some weight on the dash and the rattle went away? I find that for my particular one (if it's the same), if the passenger puts some weight on the dash closer to the door side, the noise will stop.
I tore the dash apart yesterday and double-sided taped the area that I thought was causing it, but it wasn't the fix.

I started getting the same rattle after I put in my new sound system. It also stops when I put some preassure on the doo pannels. I will be taken the door panels off and dynamatting the doors once the global cooling recedes here in VA.

The passenger side door grip bolts into a small square nut on the top. This little nut is held in with next to nothing, and comes detached from the door easily which allows the door panel to vibrate the nut against its housing. I'm going to weld the damn thing on in spring.

If you document this welding fix, I will totally follow it. What an irritating little problem. Drives me crazy. I thought my window was broken, but I figured out that wasn't the case after a bit of puttering.

What I do when I hear a rattle I can't find is have someone else drive me around in my car and have me look for the rattle. 9 times out of 10 it helps but the fact that your rattle is at a particular rpm is odd because most rattles are just loose panels but the fact that it does it at 2800rpm says it might have something to do with the vibration frequency of that RPM.
