Default how much paint?

How much paint is needed to paint a full 4 piece body kit? I test fitted everything already and its spot on. Wanted to rent a spray gun and do it myself. Just gotta know how much paint I should get. I'd rather have too much than too little. Thanks

Was thinking of doing that too. I have body damage so when I take for estimate gonna see how much it would be with and without the kit. Wouldn't mind it being a diy project as far as the kit goes

Painting a car isn't like painting with spray paint, you really need to know what you're doing. Unless you have experience painting cars, don't do it. Get it done by a reputable body shop.

I wouldnt suggest doing yourself unless you have a booth and the right equipment. Its going to run you between $1500-$2000 to get it painted for sure.

True. I used to paint houses so I have experience with a sprayer. But I know it has nothing to with cars. I'll see what the body shop says. Just wanted to see the cost difference.

with out a doubt take it to a body shop with a professional both and a skilled painter more then likely you would destroy your body kit for example if its made of a certain plastic and you prep it with wax and grease remover like you normaly do when you paint a car it would melt your bumper there are hundreds of other situations in which you could ruin it and you would be taking it to the body shop now to repair and repaint your kit

I have a higher dollar figure than this in mind because I have body damage to my passenger door and slight damage to the fenders and side skirts. See what the shop says tomorrow

good luck making it match properly with limited knowledge. it is not as easy as picking up a jar of paint in your color and slapping it on the panel.. there is a LOT of work involved and some of this work isn't on the new pieces.. there is a real art to blending properly.

I paid just over 1600 for two tone paint on my front bumper / sideskirts/rear addons and rear diffuser.

how much you need also depends on the manufacturer of paint, the color, how many stages it is, even the conditions under which it's painted

the place you order your intended paint from can advise around how much you will need

I woulndn't suggest doing yourself because you need the right tempature (90 fahrenheit..I'm not 100% sure about degree but this guy told me) and place to let it dry so it don't get any dust. I just came back from body shop not too long ago and I'm getting my new paint job next week or two. the reason why i'm getting it because some **** keyed my Z -_-''.... i was gonna paint the part that got keyed but then i dont think i can stick with two tone so i'm gonna paint the whole thing.

about a 1 1/2 gallons should be good enough to cover the kit and any run-ins. but honestly, if you're coming to a forum to ask such a simple question as to how much paint to use....it says a lot. pls just listen to these people and take it to a pro in this field.
