Shouldn't be a problem. Most shops won't install it on a manual trans because of liability. You could ask them to state on the invoice that they didn't do the remote start, but have them do it anyways. It takes the liability away from them. Just remember not to use it if the car is in gear or it will jump forward.

If they are cool they will but best buy suxed @$$ and refused even though I told them I would sign somthign not holding them accountable. I never leave my car in gear when parked, I only use the hand brake.

My car is an auto but I did the install myself.
Took about 4 hours and I know every connection is soldered, secure and
hidden away like OEM. Visit The12volt.com/
if you plan to do it yourself. They have tons of info on the Z and that alarm.

i had a local place install it, they said they just make sure it isnt in gear. btw the system in insane you can hook up everything to it.. even my gas tank door is on my viper remoste start key chain. i also had them put in the proximity sensors and that is awesome if you put your hand in my window the alarm goes off.. no more rolling up windows on a perfect sunny day in Fl.

I've got it installed and love it! Best alarm system i've owned.

Even if your manual, after install when you setup the "transmission" type, selec "Automatic" otherwise you'll need to do the painful manual shut down procedure every time to remote start.

I am adding the DEI Smartstart feature....and am debating the DEI bumper proximity sensors. This alarm is the nicest I have seen.

bad idea on the remote start...and im speaking from experience! just because you leave the car in neutral doesn't mean that others won't. for instance, i took my car to the dealership after i got the alarm installed and whoever parked it left it in gear and when they went to unlock the doors they "accidentally" pressed the remote start sending the car moving forward and colliding with another vehicle. of course it was my fault since they weren't the ones who installed the alarm and my insurance had to fix both mine and the other parties damage. right after that incident i took the whole damn alarm off...although i still have lo-jack

In situations like your's there is a switch that you must install that switches the remote start off. Simply do this when you're getting your car serviced, which is the only time soemone would drive it.

I opted against the remote start feature as well and went with just the alarm. I had initially intended to get it, but after thinking about it, I would be driving the car in the summer only so it wasn't really that important.
