Default front bumper ram air mod

i searched for this topic but came up empty, so here goes:

does anyone sell a "ram air" kit for these cars? i see some people either cut the front bumper or buy one already cut (i dont know which) that allows a straight shot of air into the air box. does anyone sell the black plastic piece that fits over what is cut off the bumper, or is that something that you all just make yourself? also, ive never seen that on a dual intake z, is there a reason for that?

There's not really an effective "ram air" mod for the Z. They make intake ducts, which you cut into the bumper to increase air flow into the engine bay. They also make intakes, with front pipes that drop down into the grill area. Either way you aren't going to see any increase in power, other than maybe lower engine bay temps with the ducts while driving.

ok thanks, i thought some did it as a way to force more air in but its basically just an appearance mod

thanks for the link, but i wonder why one is 85, but 2 is 340? also, does it include anything to stop water from getting in if you drive in the rain?

yeah, according to the link, the kit comes with a template used to cut the front bumper, then the ducts are fastened to the cut hole.

I came to flame you, but after looking up the meaning of ram air I was provided with the following:

"A ram-air intake is any intake design which uses the dynamic air pressure created by vehicle motion to increase the static air pressure inside of the intake manifold on an engine, thus allowing a greater massflow through the engine and hence increasing engine power"

So technically your question is valid LOL

Regarding your pricing question, one product is only -1- duct and the other is -2- ducts for the HR motors twin intakes.

haha......of course my question is valid, after all, i asked it

i have the twin intake motor......but the whole point of my asking that question was out of curiosity. why is the dual intake kit containing only one more carbon fiber duct worth 255 more? is there something else in the kit that i overlooked other than another duct?

LOL, you will learn the ways of the site young skywalker

It probably has more to do with supply and demand than actual product.

Normally things are more expensive for the HR than the other years.
