Nighthawk Black Pearl (from the Acura TL) I painted my DSM this color back in the day, very easy black to take care of.

I was walking into Target a few weeks ago and actually stopped in my tracks to admire the paint on a newer black Lexus RX, I dont know what the color is actually called, but it was very very deep.

 

can we see some pics to compare?

 

I would suggest something just a few shades darker than the GRIGIO PROTEUS

 

OP, if you haven't done so already go to whatever bodyshop you plan on getting your work done at and ask them to mix up some test samples for you. I just had a new front, skirts and rear STILLEN skirt installed and had the same quesiton about a SB Z. You can also get a different color pearl as a base that will shine through in direct sunlight. Your car will still appear black but as you get closer in bright sunlight you can see another color underneath.

imo, a gunmetal with a light pearl coat is the way to go if you want grey/black.

 

i guess he issue right now is the sliver is ok with one black but as it stands the cf doesn't match the flat black rims or window tint so i guess a darker color with a gray might help blend everything better and make it look cleaner.
in truth i love the black/silver contrast i just don't like it being so obvious that i have 3 different shades of black

Matte FTW

 

No Matte. If you really like black, do something with a lot of pearl to make it look custom. Java is a nice black and so is the magnetic black posted last page. Super Black is nice, but it is a pain to keep clean, and shows swirls all the time.

If you have to pick between super and magnetic, magnetic imo hands down. But any black? Then I would pick maybe a dark pearly gunmetal. Here are some pics. It's subtle but custom and sweet at the same time.

I can't really find specific pictures, but I'll keep searching.

 

What body kit?

Those blacks posted by jdm555 and solidsnake are pretty nice too.

So what makes the oem paint such a POS that everybody hates on? The only complaint I have is that they could match the bumpers better even though the paints on plastic vs metal. Other than that just because he's getting it painted an OEM Nissan color does not mean he's using OEM paint, there are plenty of other brands he can use to mix up the oem color.

But I'd say Magnetic Black if those are your choices..I love pearls.

 

That color looks looks hella good on that ride, but IMO I don't think it will flow well with Z33 or 34. It WOULD look good on like a old Datson 240 or a 510.... IMO

I definitely agree...the RX370 black is awesome!
My neighbor has a black ES Lexus & that's great too!

But if you go with super black which is what I also have....I would top it off with 3 extral coats of clearcoat.

 

any body have an flat black 350z jw what it looks like iv only been able to find one or two pics of this

 

 

The black pearl is not that bad, trust me. I got one and I like it.
