Default stupid question, but its been annoying me.. CF hood with vents..

i just recently got a seibon GT style CF hood...

was wondering if i can still goto car washes, drive in rain etc etc?

the hood has many vents.. and im worried water / soap may get inside and it can damage something, can anyone else help with thois???

just curious of what intake/s your running with? some peeps on here designed their own intake covers

You can wash the car again, you just have to swap the stock hood back before doing so.

Drive-thru car washes destroy paint. Take the time to do it yourself.

Not touchless.



They just do a chitty job of washing the car....but dont hurt paint.

I designed one.

But OP doesnt even need a cover. Open filter intake will be fine with vented hood.

Its crude, but does the job. Doesnt look bad on the car, but i think i lost the photos of it on car as they dont appear in thread for some reason.

very nice!!!^^^curious of seeing this in a engine bay shot. I want to do this for my greddy airnx filters that come standard w/ the 18g tt kit. Imo u have a very well written diy, my hat off to you sir.

You should be fine. Just make sure you put electrical tape on any lose wires and make sure fuse boxes are closed.

EDIT: Ok brah, updated the DIY with bay pics of the sheild. Disregard dirty *** bay, you can eat off it nowadays.

Depends on the pH of the solution they use. Sometimes the touchless ones are even higher/lower in pH to help remove the residue. The pH of the one near me, so the manager tells me, is 3, which is about the same as Coke. Put some on something you don't care about and see what happens!

Dude that looks professional! If you polished teh aluminum shield it would look baller!!!! Thanx for the motivation, ill be doin this next week

Default Seibon TS okay with rain and car wash.

Hello Bruce Wayne,

I have the Seibon TS CF hood on my 07 Z.

It has gone through some light rain and 2 car washes.

I have AAA just in case; but I took some time to tape up the wiring to the MAF.

I am running Stillen Gen 1 intakes.






I have not had any problems.
