Have you tried the emergency release under the strut tower?

Try pulling it out from the inside while hitting the key release on the fob.

Press down hard on the hatch while trying the release with the switch or the emergency pull.

I doubt my wife has owned $750 worth of handbags in her whole life.

It's under the rear stabilizer bar. Small, probably 1" x 1" black square, with a wire attached. it's held up against the stabilizer by velcro.

There isn't a way to get in there that I know of... Have someone press down on the hatch, while you pull the emergency release cord. That should make the latch open...hopefully

I had a strap stuck also. What I did was put something in between the hatch and bumper to pry the trunk open while Someone was pressing the trunk release on the remote. Make sure you becareful with scratching the paint. Worked for me.
