Default machined a new shift **** last night

So my buddies dad owns a sheet-metal / machine shop and we made this shift **** from aluminum. We made it on a lathe and ended up having to drill it out in the 3 axis cnc mill, because the right bit for the drill press was locked up and the part of the lathe that can drill was totally seized. It is still not threaded because those tools were locked as well but surprisingly it stays on really well without the threads. We drilled out a larger hole then needed and well be putting a "tap" into it with the 10mm x 1.25 guage threading. Its just a little lighter then the stock **** but the next one we make well be out of a much heavier, harder steel. Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology I'm a total novice still but working on it.

*note if anyone experienced with mastercam would be interested in writing a program to mill a shift ****, we'll make you one for the cost of shipping.

thanks for the comments everyone... once i get the process down cold I would definitely be willing to make a couple too sell, not sure about pricing yet but I'll figure it out and SamSpicer I agree completely that it should be a little shorter and also a little wider

I'm almost tempted to get something like that, but I can just imagine the 3rd degree burns I'd get on my hand after my car is in the sun a few hours. The stock one gets hot enough, but maybe this is just a Vegas problem...

LOL not just a Vegas problem. We just got a break from 20+ days over 100 degrees here in D/FW.

I was cosidering making one out of stainless at the shop, we have a ton laying around. I also have some brass stock, which would be pretty cool polished, but I know it won't hold up.
