I was driving down the interstate and my wipers just stopped mid motion in the middle of the windshield. I can hear the motor running when I turn them on but nothing moves. They will move easily and freely if I move them by hand. Any suggestions are appreciated I do not want to spend a ton of money at a mechanic if it is something dumb like a pin broke.

Keep of mind that the system includes one motor plus linkage. If the motor is running but neither wiper is moving, I suspect the problem is the motor to linkage connection.
