if you like your car, get an extinguisher i need to remount mine come to think of it...

i'm considering placing it in front of the drivers seat, in front of the passengers seat or behind the passengers seat back.

glad you found the source of your original problem

I ran across the link to the extinguisher I was thinking about...

IDK about using Halon. It works by displacing the oxygen that a fire needs. That also means that it's displacing the oxygen that you need - not good if you're stuck in the car. If you open the doors or hatch, then you defeat the operation of Halon since it escapes out of the cabin and fresh air/oxygen rushes in. Naturally, it doesn't help under the hood or rear end of the car.

Lol actually i started to wonder where I had heard of halons before. Then it occurred to me... Terminator 2. Remember the scene when they were breaking into the cyberdine building? If I remember right, they all had to wear masks before going in, so it got me thinking and i did some research and realized the same thing.

I just bought a regular old extinguisher from home depot. Though I do think I am going to sand and paint it just for kicks to dress it up some just for kicks.

We always had Halon systems in our computer rooms. When the Halon alarm goes off - everybody out of the building immediately. There's a 60 second delay before it releases, otherwise you'll be overcome by the vapor and lack of O2.

The only reason I pointed out FireAde 2000 is that it doesn't leave a coating or damage whatever gets sprayed. Most dry chemical extinguishers make such a mess, you almost have to throw away everything that gets hit by it, whether fire damaged it or not.
