Default Black Chrome Grill?

I've got one of those chrome grills on my Z, just the regular Nissan one from what I can tell (came with the car, I would never have bought it).

Anyway, I've been thinking of getting rid of it but also think it would look great if it was black.

Does anyone know if it is possible to colorize (powdercoat?) this thing?

It is real chrome, not plastic from what I can tell.

Thanks.

Default I Think Your Grille is Stainless Steel

I have the same grille. It is made by K&G classics and I ordered it from Courtesy Nissan. In the picture, I think I see the screws that go through the grill into some brackets, so that is why I think it the same grille.

Look at it closely, is it as shiny as chrome or a stainless steel look? Anyhow, if it is stainless steel, you can do a variety of things to it including powder coating.

Just once I would like someone to take a picture with the sun behind them so the point of interest is not in the shade.

someone went a little overboard with the lens flare effect in PS, or something. hah

Id sell it off if you dont like it, powdercoating wouldnt be worth it I dont think, it also wont flex I dont think, which might be a problem.

Default or.........

You probably still have the original black grill under the new one. You could just take the stainless grill off to see if you like it better black.

A little photoshop help. It looks good in black but I would still get rid of it personally.

Good job on the photoshop. I don't like the grill in black, you may as well just take it off and go stock if you like the "black hole" effect.

Thanks for the photochop!

I think it looks much better in black and might try to get it colorized somehow. I think it is actually stainless steel but I don't think the original grill is still in place behind it.

Appreciate the input....

P.S. The picture has no "flare" or any other effect applied to it, it is just a crappy, low res. still shot taken with a camcorder. The car had just been washed and the sun is very intense here in New Mexico at 6000 ft elevation.

Rock On!
