I guess that you haven't read any of the posts for complaints about the stock HIDs.

If a 3 series projector will fit I would opt for that conversion rather than the stock HID kit. I have been wanting HID's on a basemodel for some time. I like the HID's in my 240sx but they are not factory and blinding 1/10 the people coming the other direction is the result.

Correct me if I'm wrong but hid kits are illegal now. I guess this probably won't stop anyone just FYI...

The word "HID kit" is too vague, its hard to weed through and separate what is good from bad.. although in almost every instance ive seen, its either bad, Bad, BAD.. or in some cases, just WRONG.

If you are using the stock S14 projector with a xenon capsule, you're lighting pattern is flawed. As for the Z33 HID, I dont think the lighting is bad.. I think some people just cant be satisfied. The Z33 has fairly good optics.

The internals are slightly different between the two headlamps, mostly in the way the bulbs are secured (H7 vs D2R).

If you have a base model, you need to get a H7 kit. This kit will have a HID bulb molded into a H7 base designed to fit your car.
