Default Is this safe?!

heyyy, i got into a accident not to long ago and only my passenger bag went off. (not sure why mine didnt)

but i was just wondering if i could replace the airbag passenger dash cover without replacing the airbag itself and just put raceing seats such as bride or something cheaper and put a harness bar with 4 point harness. (such as takata? )

i plan on drifting the car so i was planning on doing this anyways, but i dont want my passenger to smake his/her head on the dash

i know that racing harness dont have any "slack" as long as the belts are tight.

what are your guys thoughts?

the stock seat belts should be able to keep someone head from hitting the dash... im pretty sure the airbag is there to just help with whip lash.

your probably going to have to get a harness bar or roll cage.

and unless you have a helmet on in the situation were you crash with a roll cage you can die from lack of head room clearence (of course if you head doesnt hit the cage it could save your life.)

and not many passengers like wearing 4 point harneses when there just cruizing around in the car.

You should put an airbag in there. Better to be safe than sorry.

Tear all the bags out if its not a DD anymore. BTW 4 point harness is not really that safe without a Hans device.

If all you're going to do is track the car, I don't see why not. On the other hand, if you're still going to drive it on the street, you're looking at a huge liability in case of an accident. Would you be involved in one and a passenger was hurt, your insurance company could deny your claim.

The general consensus:

If you are driving it on the street with a passenger, replace the airbag.

If you are only tracking the car, don't bother replacing the airbag.

Regardless of your choice, if you ever sell the car make it public knowledge that it is missing an airbag.

Forget airbags!! Get rid of them.. It makes the car lighter and faster!!!

"i dont want my passenger to smake his/her head on the dash" that's a good point!!
You don't want your passenger to mess up your dash with their heads. Protect the car!
