Default Rear Hatch Shocks Replaced And ----

Now the alignment of the hatch to the roof line is off. Not only at the top with the roof but on both sides as well. Is there an adjustment procedure for a good fit and proper realignment of the hatch?

The hatch otherwise opens and closes fine.

Thanks
Joe

The hinges control the alignment, not the shocks. Maybe your hinges are shot and no longer keep the hatch aligned properly.

Same thing happened to me after i installed new rear hatch shocks. The alignment was off and the hatch was higher than the roof. Found out i installed them incorrectly after i compared them to my friend's Z.
The hinges are supposed to be face down, not face up. I had to remove them again and reinstall.

I work at a body shop and have seen some shocks be strong where they force the hatch upward where the pressure is excerted. Dunno if this is the case. but take shocks off and if your alignment is ok. then it must be shocks are to strong.

+1 I'm betting that is the OPs problem. They do only go one way and if you didn't pay close attention to which one belongs on the left vs the right, then that would cause problems.

Thanks for all the input and replys! I will double check the hinges as they could easliy be upside down and the cause of the issue. They are also heavy duty replacements, and not KYB's, so that could also be a concern, by supplying to much pressure.

Use the OEM ones, install them correctly, and you will have no problems, I promise.
