03-05 or 06-08 Veilside V1 Lip?
Hey guys,
I managed to find a Carbon Fiber Veilside V1 lip. I am trying to tell which year my lip is for either 03-05 or 06-08. I am not sure if there is an easier way to tell what year its for. I would mount it up to my bumper to tell, but its in storage now.
It appears to have the metal Veilside emblem, and I heard that the metal emblem comes on the 06-08 years.
The number on the inside of the lip is 10002025 if that helps at all. Is there something I can look for that would clearly tell me what year my lip is for?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Might be able to help identify the lip, but not sure it's good news:
2003-2005 V1 lip:

2006-2008 V1 lip:

Check the part numbers. The 03-05 carbon fiber lip part number is AE068-02, while the 06-08 cf lip is AE068-02 MA. The white label toward the left of your second photo looks like it's AE068-02.
I'm still not clear on what makes the bumpers different, but I seem to recall it has to do with the center portion being thicker/higher on the later models. Not sure whether you can modify the CF lip to fit though.
EDIT: This is a far-out thought, but have you considered finding a 06-08 frp lip and having it wrapped in CF? I'm sure Tonester would be up to the challenge, and he's actually not too far from where you live (I think).

Thanks for the response. The number thats to the left of the Veilside is G3 AE068-02.
Apparently according to Intense Powers website my part number should include a MA and it does not. It's not looking too good for it being an 06+ lip.
I would be up for wrapping a FRP lip in CF, but I just got a great deal on this lip, and don't like many other front lips (the other ones are really expensive and its hard to spend that when I know I will be pretty low). I was just praying it would be for an 06+.

This may help too:

I guess you need to put the lip on and see how it goes. Good luck!

2003 V1 lip...

This is what Brian@Veilside said in a old thread.
1. Older versions had the raised letters.
2. Newer versions have the metal emblem.
3. I'm pretty sure the 06+ is slightly wider.
4. The lips all fit very tight.
Just got the bumper out of storage and the middle section (where the air dam is) of the lip doesn't seem long enough to cover the middle section of the bumper. I'm nervous to crack the carbon fiber.
I just emailed Veilside USA with the numbers to see what year its for but I don't think they are in business anymore so I doubt i'll get a response.

According to MyNismo.com, you have an 03-05 CF Veilside front lip:
p/n: AE068-02 (also spotted on the inside of your lip from pics)

If it doesn't fit across the air dam (middle section) then it's probably an 03-05. I had the same issue. Plus, as far as I know it's damn near impossible to get a 06-08 v1 right now.

Another thought...you could buy an 03-05 bumper and have it repainted magnetic black. I guess cost is an issue (you could afford a mines lip probably by that point), and also IMO the grille slats on the earlier bumpers don't look nearly as nice as the 06-08. But its an option nonetheless. Could always remove the slats altogether...vo's looked pretty sick that way
