Default How to: Remove the gauge cluster?

Hi, I just sent a used Nismo guage cluster out to have the mileage calibrated to my car. I always wanted the White face tach. When I get it back I want to install it into my 06. Can someone please shoot me a list of items that I need to remove to remove my factory gauge cluster? It looks to me that I need to remove the lower (and possibly the upper) steering column cover(s). The one I just sent out looks like the cluster is held onto the column by two bolts. Then a single plug in the back controls the unit. Can someone who has removed the clutster please advise me on what needs to come off and how? Thank you

I just replaced the SRS in a 03' Z, if its anything similar it goes like this:

- remove 4 screws on on the plastic under the steering wheel.
- pop off the plastic around the ignition
- use a taped screwdriver and remove the plastic on the bottom
- locate the 4 10mm bolts that hold the cluster down, remove them
- lift cluster forward and disconnect, then remove

My buddy at my local Nissan Dealer sent it to some place in Jersey or Delaware (I cant remember which). That place is the only place allowed by Nissan to do it. I tried calling them and sending it to them personally but they only bill Nissan dealers. Without a letter from a dealer stating the mileage is correct they will not touch it.

acheung456, thank you for the help. I appreciate it.

Kwame, I looked in the service manual and could not find it anywhere. I have the white paper bound 4 book manuals. I have used them once. Anyways, I thought I would ask since sometimes there are tricks or secrets that someone who has done it a few times would be able to chime in and answer. Thanks everyone

Guys, I received my cluster today. It took me about 45 min taking my time not to scratch or crack anything. But it went in very easily.

acheung456, you were dead on. Thank you for the info

Here you go subdermal, sorry for the poor quality. I have no light in the garage. Also now I wish I would have snapped one with the car running. The Nismo logo in the tach really stands out.
