Is this scratch fixable with buffer?
I believe I was a victim of vandalism since I notice my rear bumper is keyed. Is there any way to buff it out or fix it without painting the bumper? I was thinking of using thin coat of touch up paint then buff it after that. Or what's the best way to fix this?
it can be less visable but def can't be buffed out where it is gone. A light wetsand and heavy compound can smooth out the edges of that scratch where it doesn't look as bad but you will still have a scratch.
What type of wetsand paper should I use and what should I use to buff with? Would u guys suggest I skip touch up paint since it would look worst. I just want the scratch to look alot better then it is now.
you are going to need at least a 3k rpm high speed buffer. It's going to cost you around 200-250 for materials. i would have someone else do it or just get it repainted if you are spending that much.
I will see what local detailing shop would charge me. I just want the scratch to be less noticeable. This never happened to me where my car get keyped I'm kinda of pissed now.
I used this stuff to repair a similar scratch on my front bumper:

It actually only works well if the scratch is deep (i.e. down to the plastic or metal), but if the scratch isn't fully through the color coat you may be able to polish it out.

if it catches your fingernail easy, its beyond buffing out. i say use touch up paint and some light sanding to smooth the edges down as super black said. then buff from there. best of luck, vandalism sucks
That sucks dude. I had this happen to me, passenger rear quarter panel and the passenger door as well as some smaller marks on the bumper. Vandalism is such a cowardly move. In my case the passenger half of the car needs to be sprayed, so im waiting till spring to have it done. Hope everything works out for you. Marks like these can go through insurance without raising your rates so maybe you want to look into it.
