If you go with pins, grab the aerocatch variety. Best looking ones, IMO.

If you don't know what you're doing in regard to the pins, let the shop do it. You will need to make holes in the hood to install them.

Side note:
These hoods aren't lighter than the aluminum OEM if anything. I think some even weigh more than OEM.. The affordable\available carbon fiber hoods don't make sense to swap to unlike our Hatches where weight can be saved. Unless ur boosted or track the car using a CF hood without vents is a waste of $$

I don't mind the look of OEM hoods either, plus they seem to be a lot cheaper than the vented one's. But I guess vented one's look a little better, which is the reason I am looking at them. For $100 or a little more than the price of the OEM, I am able to get a vented style. As of right now I am pretty set on this one....the price seems to be decent as well and I've read that VIS is good.

you want a look or function

for the "look" you can select anyone, for functionality, pick the vented one.
you wont shave a single pound from this as "Highway Riding" said, but you can keep your engine bay cooler. so win-win situation. CF hood + cooled engine bay.

functionality FTW

Only reason i ever got my carbon hood was because of a wreck i had. Im slammed so the bumper of the truck folded in the front edge of my hood. Insurance gave me some money so i got my hood. On another note i forgot to post on my prev post. My seibon hood also didnt come with the built in bolts. It came with holes where the bolts should have been. And they gave me some lil dinky bolts to screw into it. And i had to use the nuts from the original hood to use as sort of spacers so the lil dinky bolts would fit right. Its ghetto. But it works.

Well the main reason I want to get a hood is because of the looks to be honest.

I am even considering going to a local tinting shop and getting the hood and the trunk cf wrapped instead. I am really torn between the two options because one way just the hood would cost me that much and on the other hand I can get both the hood and the trunk wrapped with cf wrap. I am just really confused and can't figure out what I want to do.

Suggestions? Again the only goal is the looks for me. Cosmetic mods.

Screw it...just ordered a VIS GTC hood from grounddynamics.com.
http://www.grounddynamics.com/GTC-Ca...2dgtc-010c.htm

Really excited to get it and can't wait to put it on the car! Will most likely go to a shop to get it done, because I want the hood pins and everything.

Nope , its straight rice.

OP, why do you want the ricer civic look? If you do buy a CF hood, make sure you paint it (body color) to stay away from the rice look.

The whole reason I want a cf hood is so that I can get some contrast going. Cause I have my matte black rims with windows and tail lights tinted. I want the whole theme going, so I ordered the hood and I'll be keeping it proper carbon fiber.

If you have black wheels and tinted windows/lights you already have contrast. By ricing your car, you will be taking away they contrast and justcluttering it with the rice look.

I never knew that having a CF hood and keeping it as they come is considered rice these days. That is indeed news to me, but to be honest, I really like that look.

Keeping the CF hood as it's is not rice (I had my hood painted body color), but wrapping the hood with CF wrap is rice IMO.

Flipper, I placed an order for mine yesterday at grounddynamics.com

They seem to have a VIS sale going on and I paid $613 shipped to me in Canada. Although I will most likely have to pay customs on top of that and shipping was probably what yu will have to pay in the States. But some of the VIS hoods they have going for $450 or something, which I think is a pretty sick deal.

please let's refrain from the what's rice what's not debate.

OP, a CF hood doesn't need to be painted, yours will be fine right out of the box. If you wish you can take the hood to a body shop to get it re-clear coated for extra protection.

The OEM style hood says its for 03-08...its look more like 03-06. I dont see the one with the hump in the middle.

Yep- it definitely won't fit without the bump for the taller HR.
