Is it possible that when I unscrewed my own shift **** with my bear hands (get it? Bear. Anyway...) that I took something with it that's now stuck in my oem ****??? That's the only thing I can think of...

No you didnt, I would just spray expanding foam in it and stick it on, let it dry and ta da.
