As far as I know, as long as you install a bulb that has the same bulb type and same power (Wattage) rating as the OEM bulbs, you should be fine.

EDIT: To my knowledge, power rating is independent of color temperature. In my old car I installed an aftermarket HID kit which happened to be rated 35 Watts, but I had the choice of 5000k, 6000k, 7000k, etc. The same color temperatures were also available in the 55 Watt system. The difference there is higher wattage = higher intensity, but theoretically the color stays the same.

03-05 350z = DSR 4300K 35W phillips
06-08 350z = D2S 4300K 35W Phiilips

8000K D2S bulbs should be plug and play, but why do you want 8000K?
I have 6000K bulbs and I think it's the highest temp you'd want to go without being too ricey imo.

I really doubt that many car manufacturers use 55w on headlights on most vehicles, 55w is normally reserved for off road vehicles.

dont do it...i had 8000K in my Z and once it rains you cant really see Shitt...keep the factory ones..if you want a brighter output, look into taking apart your lights and install a set of STi lenses...that seems to help out the clarity as well as the cutoff line..

Default 8k

I just bought and installed 8k 35w bulbs in.. It was very easy to do and im pretty happy with the results..
yes u do loose some brightness but its not horrible..
i must say though.. that the high beams are almost useless now.. makes hardly any difference. The cutoff line stayed the exact same, no added glare..

i was just going for more of a color to the lights..

Yeah there are higher color temp D2S and D2R bulbs. You just swap them for your stocks. Although as it's already been mentioned you will loose brightness and add to that 'rice' look with the higher color temp you go.

If you want brighter and you have 06+, that STi lens swap will help a small bit, but otherwise there is nothing that can be done except buy aftermarket 50W HID kit. No one has tried this on a Z as far as I know, but I would expect it to work just fine. You would have to cut your stock wiring to install a aftermarket 50W HID kit. I'm considering doing it myself...

If you want a little more brightness why not slightly adjust your projectors a tad bit higher factory they are set low as hell to the ground.... I have personally had 6K 8K and 10K on different vehicles of mine i was happiest brightnes wise with 6K which is factory HID color pretty much.. The 8K i liked the color of the best though slightly blueish yet still bright.. the 10K was way to blue and stupid but i had highs lows and fogs to make up for the lack of light

If your talking about adjust the aim, then making them higher (so the cutoff is higher) will actually make your headlamps seem dimmer, as less light will be concentrated on the road in front of you. Don't adjust the aim of your headlamps, they are probably fine from the factory. The only reason to raise them is if while your driving on a straight, flat road that you can actually see the cutoff point on the road in front of you... then they are aimed too low. Otherwise they are fine, don't mess with that. The cutoff point, on the left side, should be equal to the horizon, assuming a completely flat road.

Just do some 6K, that will get you a little more color if that is what your after. I wouldn't go above that. If you want more brightness, you have no good options other than installing a 50W HID kit. The STi lens, and all these other things being suggested are a lot of work for a small amount of gain, not worth the effort IMO.
