Default blacking out headlights cause bubbling?

Bought a set of 08 headlights and was gonna send em over to lightwerkz to get the housing painted flat black until I heard some bad news.
Apparently, if you paint the chrome U shaped piece right under the shroud, theres a potential chance for the paint to bubble down the road and mess up the plastic.

Caeser informed me that the black paint along with the heat given off from the HID bulb despite it being hid vs halogen, could negatively effect that area.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? I'm really hesitant to getting this done now and I don't really want it "partially" blacked out.

I did fix someone who has the bubble by sanding it down. Wasn't anything major.

supposedly using high temp paint will prevent the bubbling, but it's very minor and using black will mask it except when viewed very closely.

supposedly the problem is not the paint, it's the plastic itself. with the high temp of the HID, the plastic deforms and begins to sag downward. when the HIDs are off it cools down and straightens back up, and this stretching is what causes the bubbling paint. This is why you should get your fenders resprayed after you roll them, because there is a chance of the fender paint on the edge bubbling as well and can eventually lead to rust in that area.

Caesar painted mine as well and it bubbled like he said it would. nothing serious, you really can't notice it unless your face is right up to the headlamp. it still came out great

hmmm, do you or anyone have any close up shots of the bubbling?
I mean if its subtle like everyone says, i might just bite the bullet and get them done.

Wow that looks pretty bad compared to what I had. My bubbles were about the size of the tip of a pen. And I had 3 or 4 on each headlight. So unless your eyes were about 2 feet from the headlights, you wouldn't be able to tell they were there.

yeh, that's pretty bad and would def bug me. I'm OCD about these kinda things.

apparently theres a fix for this? Tried searching through some of the DIY black out headlight threads but couldn't find anything

Usmanif has a fix for this, the my350z DIY thread talks about it, and you could do that fix for these headlights if you wanted them to be perfect. I was just going to live with it.

Recently ordered and sent a brand new set of 06+ projectors to caesar at lightwerkz for the oem color match and clear , angel eye mod , and protective covering.

Heard nothing but good things about lightwerkz.

Caesar insisted that i not paint the lip right below projector because of the slight bubbling problem.
