Default Rear Splash Guard "Outline" Help

I just removed my rear splash guards today. I love the look, but as you know there is usually a faint outline of where the splash guards used to be. For those of you that removed the splash guards, do you have any tips to minimize the "outline"? I just washed the car, didn't have a time to do anything else but hopefully tomorrow I can make it look a little better. Any help is appreciated. I'll update with pics as well.

I'm looking at claybaring the area with dawn soap, then polishing and waxing. I am going to get a full professional detail soon, but i'd like to do something myself to make this look a little better.

Thanks,
Dan

By my second round of waxing the car, it was no longer visible on my '04. I took mine off just this past year, so I'm assuming that they were in place since it was made (I'm the second owner).

Good to hear Did the outline look somewhat grayish? I'm debating whether it is scratches or just a buildup of dirt/grime over the years.

Mine was a combo of both, but scratches weren't deep into clearcoat, so it went away after a few waxes. However, I was worried that I might have to get it buffed out by a professional when I first removed them.

I would at least give waxing it a shot if you have time to wait and see if that alone clears it up - $0. But if you want it fixed immediately, I'd bet you could find someone to buff it out as long as there are no scratches deep into the clear coat - ~$50. If it's deep, you may need to talk to someone about spraying that area again - $$$.

Do you have a pic that you could post? I might be able to tell if yours looks similar to how mine did. I'm sure that others on here with more knowledge could chime in with better advice if we could see a picture.

i'll post pics tomorrow, didn't get a chance to take any since it was dark. If I can't fix it, i'd hope the professional detailer could fix the lines.

A one-step cleaner-wax will take care of it. The line is simply wax and dirt residue.

Normally for me I can get anything off the car with Goo Gone, you might want to give it a try Dan.
