06-08 headlight PART Question. Need reply ASAP!
doing the 08 headlights install right now and i only got one of the gray plastic covers for the hid bulb in the back for the 08. I thought the 03-05 plastic covers were compatible but they're actually too big. does Nissan sell those cover caps individually?
if so, i may just leave my bumper off till i get it.

Just make sure you have your fender liners in the wheel well installed. It doesn't take much driving on rainy days to get water up to the bottom of the headlamp and into the ballast. And you'll definitely want to get the proper cover for the headlamp ASAP. I bought some 06+ headlamps too and they didn't come with the covers so i'll be ordering a set myself soon.
You can get the rear cover for $6 here...

anyone know if the bottom cap can be used from the 03 headlight on the 06?
Item #8 is what I am referring to - http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0
As the 06 headlight I am about to get is missing both cover, the back cover and the bottom cover.

number 8 is the ballast. you have a plastic cap that snaps in then twist and lock. then the hid ballast just snaps in. if you have a 03 05 light without hid then there isnt a cap there. if you have an 03 05 hid headlight, they may put the ballast there also.

That #8 is the electronic control ballast. It doesn't snap in or lock into place, it is held in by 3 screws. It is the same setup on 03 - 09 headlamps with HID. Since you had HID 03's, your ballasts would fit perfectly on 06 headlamps.
I was about to order from that link provided, but I don't think they will do international shipping. how far off is the 03 back cover ? any chance I can just use some silicon to glue the back cover on to the 06 ?
Mine just sit in place with the rubber seal in place, snugly... but I wouldn't describe it as snapping in. Maybe yours are much tighter and do snap in. Either way 03-09 ballast mount locations are the same.
MugenR, are you talking about the ballast or the bulb replacement cover? If your talking about the bulb cover... maybe, but you'd need to use a LOT of silicone sealant and even then it may not take much for a crack to form from vibration and it to eventually fall off. You might be better off trying to make your own cover out of fiber glass or something.
If you look at the 06 headlamp closely, you'll see an outline around the opening the same size of the old opening from the 03-05 headlamps. The old headlamp covers are probably only an 3-5 cm of additional circumference.

I am talking about the bulb cover, hmm, if that's the case I will try to find some site that will do international shipping. Looks like I shouldn't install these lights until I have the bulb cover then.
I certainly wouldn't drive on wet roads with out fully sealing the headlamp. At a very minimum have the wheel well fender liners installed. This blocks nearly all water that would normally splash all over the bottom and rear of the headlamp assembly.
You may want to try salvage yards in your area for a wrecked 06+ 350Z. Perhaps you can find some of the rear bulb replacement covers there...
Good luck.

Thanks guys, I will go to the dealers to order them today, cost twice as much compared to buying it online but not much I can do about it. Can't really drive with that thing open, but I will get it installed first and put duc tape over it for the time being!!! Can't have these lights sitting in my room, need to put them on!
