if u already have HIDs, just change the bulb.. no need for a ballast conversion kit.
Also a 39 dollar kit is gonna be suuuuper shady.

Phillips ballasts are OEM qual and are several hundered.

Again, if you already have HIDs leave em or swap bulbs. ZERO point to replacing.

If you want a 55w usage, do you also need to replace a balast? Or is that just a bulb? Stock is 35w I believe, and I would like something brighter for night time driving.

I take issue with this. Companies such as
Osram Sylvania make quality long lasting bulbs. Lots of junk from China I would stay away from.

I have been running "Garax" 6000K bulbs for about 2 yrs now without any issue. I will upgrade to the "real" 6000K Philips Ultinon bulbs in a week or so.

I will take pics for comparison between 2 brands.

As for Xentec, I'm not sure for their bulbs, but their ballasts such a$$. I'd buy different quality brand.

Our cars don't use Phillips ballasts, we have Matsushita ballasts.

If you want to upgrade to 50W i'd be careful. First off if you remove the stock ballasts you remove the seal from the bottom of the headlamp. So you'll have to cover it up to prevent water and moisture from getting inside. Then you'll have to cut into the stock wiring for 35W and connect it to whatever 50W aftermarket ones you get. You may have issues, possibly popping the fuse because the stock setup is designed for 15W less.

I haven't tried it yet... am considering doing it. If you do it before me, let us all know how it goes.

Good luck. Have you tried 5000K? You still get a nice blue but more lumen's than the 6000K. The more color you go the less light you get, and the more rice it looks in my opinion.

I'm not really familiar with different brands of HID bulbs. I'd recommend checking out the www.hidplanet.com forums or www.theretrofitsource.com. Both of these are excellent resources to learn more about HID and HID products.
