I voted yes do it with pins...but now that I look at it a second time...it looks like a fish and you added another lip to its lips. lol, looks ugly now. Don't do it!

Did you end up going with the pins?

Here is mine, I have them in. I went with them only because I had a friend that was driving at a really high rate of speed, hit a small bump, the wind was pulling down on the splitter he thinks and wam, it was ripped off. Bumper destroyed. Cost him a new bumper and splitter. I chose to learn from his mistake.
