Default New headlights for 04 base

I just bought an 04 base z with 06 headlight housing painted black on the inside, and they are damaged. they fog up after getting wet and aren't bright at all. they have 10K HIDs in them.. looks like someone tried to mod them or something crazy. Long story short I need new headlights and I was lookin at the JDM brand headlights off of ebay. Does anyone know good brands or where I should get new headlights? I want HIDs definitely. body shop says that they are bad and I might as well replace them while I'm replacing the front bumper as well.

here's some pics of my current ones.
any advice or info is very much appreciated

ebay ones? no way, they dont make ebay lights to match those 06 and up models. Those are all halogen 03-05 replacement lights and the quality sucks.

Youre BEST bet is to send them to lightwerkz in NJ and have them repainted, polished etc and resealed there. Still will cost you less than one normal 06 headlight replacement.

I found some 06+ headlights on ebay for around 3-400. I don't know if they are replicas or what not, but seemed oem to me

its a mod, people mod thier cars.

ANy mod worth doing is worth doing right tho, and this guys new and just bought the car like this.

www.lightwerkz.net

theres downtime involved, but they can resurrect those for you, probably cost you about 400-500 bucks, but they will be done right and look far better.

those can be repaired, all you need is to wetsand them a little and reseal them and a good polish.

Looks like ghetto oven work. Any new headlight would be better than these.

You can try to repair them... or yes you can get OEM used or new 06+ headlamps off ebay. I found some brand new for about $420 each that didn't come with ballasts/bulbs.

I'd recommend getting rid of the 10K. That will have horrible output. Get some stock 4300K for best light output results.

Thanks for all the opinions guys.
I feel like it would be a waste to repair these shitty headlights, so I am leaning more in the direction of getting some used factory ones from 06+ models. This seems to be the best bang for the buck in the situation I'm in. I just need some working headlights that look good too.

If I get some used stock ones, can I upgrade them to 6k hids somehow or is there no way to convert stock headlights?

FYI there are no aftermarket 06+ headlamps...

You might send your pictures to lightwerks or some other headlamp retrofit company to at least see if they think these can be repaired and for how much. Otherwise just buy some new/used ones.

Personally i'd ditch the aftermarket HID ballasts... Get the stock Matsushita, some guys sell them with the headlamps and bulbs. If anything at least stick with stock ballasts and get 6000K D2S bulbs, they're out there. I'd personally stick with 4300K stock or maybe 5000K.

If you want to get rid of those headlamps i'll buy them for $150 shipped. I'll even ship you empty Nissan boxes designed to hold our headlamps.

I'm sorry but no one is going to sell you 06+ headlights for $150 shipped no matter what the condition is and if they do, they are retarded.

OP, get the lights wetsanded, buffed, and polished to restore them. My friend did mine for me but this should only cost you about 200-300 dollars max.

Depends on who you are and if your not willing to try to fix yourself then selling them to get money back is a good idea. $150 is a lowball bid of course.

I've already given the OP a direction to head, but he may not want to do the work himself. I personally would as these headlights are worth the trouble.

I've looked at threads that show how to repair headlights by wet sanding and stuff like that, so I'm gonna try it out. It's my understanding that this process will eliminate the fogging.

As for the brightness and performance of the lights, would simply buying new bulbs influence the light output?

Maybe the 10k bulbs are working as designed with no flaws, maybe it's just my own eye that doesn't like them. I have never ridden in/owned a car with HIDs, so I have no idea what to expect from them. All I know is that I can't see the road well at all, and there's hardly any difference between the low beams and the high beams.

I'd trash those things. You're just gonna waste your time and money.

Your light output suffers not only due to the fogginess of your headlights, but also because of the 10000K bulbs you have in there. Change out the bulbs to 4300K (stock) or 6000K max and that alone should improve your visibility.

Also, those headlights, no matter how trashed they look, are worth more than $150 (rofl @ lowball) and shouldn't be thrown away (). Either take the time to fix them yourself or get a professional to work on it. They're definitely salvageable.
