[QUOTE=Kuhan;9171191]I finally had time to install the EVO-R hood dampers. The install was simple and took me about 20 minutes or so.
I really like these since no trimming was required, and they have 2-stage opening, which is pretty cool.

Here are some pictures.

Awesome thanks for this. I never liked the fact that I had to trim with NRG. My brake and brake fluid covers are painted so I didn't want to mess that up.

Kuhan....nice job! Looks great!

BlueDragonZ...installing the NRG, the small 'dremel' trim is on the lower black plastic cover which has nothing to do with your battery & brake fluid covers...you removed them first.

I should have said those trim pieces that holds the battery/fluid covers are painted on mine.

I just installed a set of the NRG polished struts on my '08. They look and work great, 20-minute install, no cutting.

has anyone tried these on an aftermarket hood? I have an ASM hood and im afriad of the dampers being too stiff that the hood will be damaged from pressure

Default Go with the EVO-R units

I just installed the EVO-R dampers on my 2006 350Z and installation was painless. No cutting or grinding. Top marks for ease of install.

The distinction between the different brands seems pretty blurry, and may depend on where the "brands" are sourcing their parts. My NRG's look exactly like these EV-R's, except for the polished finish (the brackets are exactly the same), but different from other NRG pics I've seen posted.

Kuhan and other guys that have the EVO-Rs, quick question.

Should I be able to compress the damper by hand? I am about to install mine but I can't get them to budge an inch. I got them for xmas like 2 years ago and never had time to install. I figured I have a few min today so I was going to attempt it. I don't want to put it on my car and it ends up not compressing and letting my hood down and then I have to uninstall. Thanks in advance.

I couldn't compress mine, but I didn't really try all that hard. I suppose if you could put enough force on one to compress it, the ends would puncture your hands Don't worry, the hood has much more leverage because the struts are mounted so close to the hinges.

Thanks man. I guess I'll go ahead and do mine then. I just wanted to make sure they weren't defective. Either that or I didn't eat my wheaties today.

Took 2 years to get a few minutes to install them? Hah. Or you completely forgot you had them?

NRG has their logo on each damper. Best to compress first.

There are some real cheapies out there from China.

Well. I forgot to make time to install them. Anyway, just did em. Not bad. Quite a bit of resistance closing it at first. But I finally got it to close right before they popped off the hinges. I opened and closed a few more times and it's a little better. I will let it break in.

are there any struts that mount to the fenders closer to the hinges then farther out on the hood. I dont really like the mounting at the hinges, the hood is not designed for this and flexes and that is not to good with aluminum.

I have no problems whatsoever with NRG. The trick is to compress the struts several times before installing & grease the bearings. Hood stays up & closes perfectly.
