Default 2003 350Z ignition key- does it have a chip?

Does the 2003 350Z key have the chip in it? I need to have a new key made so I didn't know if I should go to the dealer for $100 or Home Depot for $2

I am going to say yes. It's part of the NAT's system.

Of course it's chipped. Look in your owners manual in the NVIS section. All a Home Depot copy will do is open the door. A programmed key is required to actually start the car.

Unfortunately a replacement from a dealership usually runs $150 ($60 for the key and $80 to reprogram).

The '03 Base models have a chip just like all of the other Z's. Base models need security too.

Remember to bring in all your keys because when they reprogram one, they have to reprogram them all at the same time to match.

Unless you buy online, most places will charge over $100 for the key.

Without knowing his production date, he's either a

H0564-CD000 OR H0564-CD010

$105.95 each. We only charge $55 to program though

If you go to a good locksmith they have the chipped blank & can cut it & program it right there in their shop. They have access to the factory specs. & VIN #ed latching if they subscribed to the system. Call around to get prices & you should eliminate the dealer as I did, six months ago.
