Fiberglass tensil strength = 3,400 (MPa) @ 2.57 (g/cm³)

Carbon weighs less, even at a lower density is stronger than fiberglass.

I know how to work with carbon and fiberglass, this is where I get my supplies from. You should read up on composites before you spread more misconceptions.

It pops back into place even if you step on it. It literally does, the members out there who have owned Shine products know it's very similar to OEM material. Someone stepped on my sideskirts on accident before and no crackling or damage. This is an old video and their products have gotten even better since.

every carbon part ive had has been the most brittle part on my car. and i run a fiberglass front clip. i.e my CF hood is like 10 lbs. my previuos Fiberglass hood was like 16+ and much stronger than my current carbon hood. and yes they both have understructures. if the carbon hood was 16lbs it would be stronger than a 16lb fiber. but its not 16lbs.

Flexible engine cover pieces in carbon fiber and hexal texalium. Not brittle and very strong.

Exhaust shield.

Under panel diffuser for my 350z.

These are parts I made for my own cars, I know what I'm talking about.

Once again you've been had by marketing. Your "carbon" parts are aesthetic pieces, as most buyers (mass market) just care that it looks carbon but is not fully carbon fiber.

The aftermarket "carbon" hoods out there are just 1 single layer of carbon weave, with a large amount of resin (for shine and depth, which also makes it brittle) and the rest is fiberglass for reinforcement. The only company I'm aware of that produces true carbon pieces are ASM of Japan, IE the S2000 which costs over $2k just for the hood, and Seibon who produces limited dry carbon parts over $2k per piece. I know there are more out there, but your $400 dollar brittle hood is no where near a true carbon fiber part.

Using personal experiences from cheap parts to say that carbon fiber is weaker than fiberglass is a weak argument in itself. Numbers don't lie carbon fiber is much stronger than fiberglass.

Every VIS part I have seen has serious imperfections.

I have a friend that has a hood and trunk lid that do not fit at all and never will. He really saved a bunch with parts he can't use.

It's cool to have opinions and all, but when they are annecdotal, you should point that part out. In this case, YOUR Camaro's carbon hood weighs less and is less strong (however we are defining hood strength) than your Camaro's previous fiberglass hood. When we start talking about 350zs's, let the rest of us know

Ok just mounted my vis bumper and I have to say it fits very well with minor modification. Its dark out now but will take pictures in the morning. Gotta fill in the lines and the badge before I drop off to have painted again Friday. So if they now own wings west I do believe. They will make a quality poly piece

Vis makes(made) garbage when I bought from then 10yrs ago.

On CF, one of the best pieces I bought was from fiberimages. Love that hood.

sideskirts are just bolted from underneath so they are sagging just a tad. like i said going to be dropped off @ paint shop tomorrow morning and will look great when finished. the bumper lines up perfect. the sideskirts as well. no complaints about my vis purchase.

Why are you hiding the gap between the hood and bumper? j/k I'm sure it's going to come out great.

v3 looked good when i first saw it, but i just couldn't do it. even with it coming in poly. now if i crack this one then i might just go with it. but i know to be a lot more careful now.

now dont you feel bad for trashing the quality of these bumpers already made? you made sure to let everyone know how these companies were not up to your par. i think you owe them an apology and a praise.
all these rumors about bumpers not fitting are made by paint shops when you go to get a paint estimate. they all say 'aftermarket bumpers never fit blah blah, we need to put hours of work into it blah, and we need to glass it and prime it blah. nothing but lies and crap comes out of those guys mouth. aftermarket bumpers fit great in general. they will fit unless you get very unlucky, which is rare. not the other way around. they are all quality pieces, it would be harder to make a junk part than to place something in a good mold and pop it out.

I have seen multiple VIS hoods and trunks for numerous different cars that did not fit. The Acura CL trunk I saw was so bad the trunk leaked.

A broken clock is right twice a day.
