Question EZPass, Fastlane, etc. Placement?

Where do you guys paste this thing on your windshield. Since the cockpit and windshield in the Z is small it really sticks out. If you put it to one side of the dots in the middle its almost in front of you. I will also be putting my Valentine1 up there somewhere.

I was thinking lower left hand corner in front of the driver (I held it there one and it worked). I wanted to get everyone's opinion since those 3M strips look fairly permanent. Thanks all.

I put it in the Nav compartment, as I don't have the Nav system. I pull it out whenever I need it and then put it back. I don't want the FasTrak to mar the looks of the car...

I don't put it in the car at all. In California they use your plates. I have all 4 of my cars on FasTrak but only 1 transponder. Just leave the think at home or in your other car. Mine stays in my 87. I have it possitioned behind (or in front depending on how you look at it) my rearview mirror on the tint area. You can't even see it from outside the car. I'm not sure your state uses plates but if they have the system they probably do.

I have EZPass and I had it in the navi compartment (no stock navi) and it would work from in there, never had to take it out. Now that I have put a screen in there, I just mounted it to some plastic in the dash, and it works in there

So you just stuck it to the dash itself? I also have an EZPass so no license plate type transponder is available. It sounds like this thing will actually work from many places. I just don't want to get nailed the one time it doesn't work ;-) Once the Boston area gets a little nicer (no more wet and sandy roads) I'll have to experiment some more. Never tried just leaving it in the NAV compartment with the lid closed.

well...it's inside the dash, behind the screen. You won't get nailed, if they do mail you a ticket, you just have to respond that you have EZpass and the # fo the unit I think

I was trying different locations when I 1st got the car, like in the mail slots. It didn't work, but I had no plates yet (only a temp), and never got a ticket.
I think as long as you keep it up front you will be fine.

oh damn didn't know they made those!

Problem is I have a custom front mount for my plate which does not use the stock plate frame (didn't want to drill my bumper). I would have to cut that out and reattach it. Kind of a pain since it was done with zip ties. Did they charge you extra for the license plate transponder? Or did you just request it?

I use a suction cup attached holder, with it mounted ON the little dots by the rear view. Works fine, and you can barely see it; the holder is the same color as the interior roof. Pics soon...

Did you get the suction cup holder directly from EZPass as well? I just called up and got the license plate tag... although... any fear of theft???

Also do our cars have this "metal oxide" in the glass. This page lists the new Quest, Maxima and Altima as having it. This would probably interfere with radar detectors as well...

I have a FastPass (SoCal). I just put in the crack between the guages and the dash when I need it. Otherwise, it's where the cup holders were. We don't need any stinking cup holders. Does your coffee table have a steering wheel?

Well just tried the nav compartment method this morning on the Mass Pike. No dice, even left the door open. Hope I don't get nailed for the max fee. I stuck it up there at the last second but I have a feeling it got the car behind me instead. BTW its finally nice enough to drive around here in the Z, all the snow melted.

Anyone driving a redline roadster on the 495 on ramp from MA Pike? I was the guy in front of you. Nice to see some other Z drivers out today too...

I usually keep mine in the glove box and pull it out when i need it.

IF you REaLLy want to mount it somewhere without obstructing the view on the windshied. You could make a visor clip for it. Kinda like these http://store.seattlesunglass.com/kooclip.html then all you have to do is flip down your visor when u get near the toll. It may even work in the up position...I wouldnt know since ive never tried this. But this is def. a cheap simple solution to your problem.

I cannot remember if I paid extra for it, but I tried the EZpass and it was ugly as hell It uses the original top license plate screws, I have heard of people mounting them inside the front grill, but I am not sure how that works.

install directions -> http://www.drpa.org/ezpass/ezmnt.html

I think the exterior tage is awesome, and it is also excluded from the license plate obstruction laws.
