Default Carbon fiber tunnel hatch review

I know there were some older posts about people wanting to know about cf tunnel hatches. I bought one from VIS and here it is on my Z. The fitment is a little tight on the rear windows. It rubs a little on the weather stripping and just a tiny bit on the rear part of the roof. The cf itself is good quality. The lexan window has a really poor gasket on it so I replaced it and don't have any leaks. The weight is about 40lbs. Visibility out the rear is comparable to the stock hatch believe it or not.

That looks like a pretty significant gap between the hatch and the taillight.

The gap is because I didn't have the weather stripping in there yet but I just put it on with double side tape. Holds up just fine after I drove 200 miles today and the weather stripping is still where it should be.

In for moar pics!

did this COME with the lexan window? or did you have to buy it seperately? What does it look like from inside the car? Pics of that could be legit...

Just to additional thing to point out as well is all the wires for the hatch light and wiper motor tucks up in the roof liner just fine without any buldges, it takes some finagling but the headliner clips will still pop back into place

It came with the window... I don't have any pics on the inside but it does look a little funny, obviously our cars were not meant to have a window like that so it is very "aftermarket" looking. Meaning that it looks like it doesn't belong on the inside. The window comes up to the speaker wall behind the seats and is about a foot behind my head. The window is about 6'' high.

But as far as that goes, I was mostly interested in the weight savings and unique look of it. My car is going to eventually be a track car so I am not too concerned about it but I know it will be an issue to some. I'll post a picture of the inside when I get back home on thursday.

I only have one strut holding it up too. Two is overkill to say the least.

It is a little off. That's where it pinches in a little bit and and rubs the gasket on the window. I know the holes for the hinges are oval so there is some wiggle room. I need to tinker with it a little more to get it perfect.

As with any CF stuff, fitment is never 100% anyways...so far it looks sufficient though, if you can make it better then thats a +
