Anything is possible. Find a shop that will fabricate a gate for you.

This might work if you flip it upside down.

Most likely that would be me. As long as it looks 100 percent legit

any pics of your previous work? i dont know if i should take this seriously...etc.

What are your plans for this piece? it will need to be minutely adjustable in each direction.. many ppl think the shifter just bolts in the same ea time.. but it has to be aligned w a procedure when the transmission is worked on... during reassembly there are fine points where if not adjusted, youl grind every gear.

something to think about. a shaved down stock shifter top ( ie threaded section extended further down to the base) could mate w a TWM shift extender or a piece of your own manufacture.. i just know its hella thin.

anyhoo.. sounds like your the engineer.. i wil let you figure out all that.

If you make one or post pics, let me know.

Here is a sample of my work.

http://g35driver.com/forums/accessor...t-*****-t.html

I've got a g35 but mines an a/t. All of my friends have the m/t though so I will use them for my guinea pigs and go from there. I understand what you are saying with having some play in the gated areas so the shifter can have some room due to it not being cable driven. Ill do some research too so i completely understand what needs to be done.

Looks kick ***.
Id say sandwich a black layer of softer slippery plastic under the gate..cut just a hair smaller than the metal.. that way its minimally visible and keeps the shifter from contacting the metal to metal..would make for a better shift feel too. Maybe replaceable too? Its all about making the shifter column far thinner...

Looks like great work..pull this off and id love one

correct me if im wrong but seems gated shifters only come on cars with cable driven transmission.

I don't see any reason that with enough trial and error the pattern couldn't be made, but I know other companies have tried with no success, so i doubt its possible
Gated shifters come in cars other than rear engine cars with cable connected shifters. Here is a picture of a gated shifter in a Ferrari 550 Maranello. It's engine is mounted in front.

Yeah but your still probably dealing with getrag trans axle stuffand cable shifting.. I'm out in about an using the mobile version maybe when you guys can google it see if I'm wrong.

Believe me I wanna to work but I think is the main reasons why really just doesn't happen. Or should I say ....if it does get built it doesn't happen to work the same as a ferrari etc.

ie, the shifter is a cable shifter.

Ours is on the transmission, moves too much, and is far thicker.. = aint gonna happen.
and if it does, its gonna look worse than what youre looking at, be very noisy and make our transmission even notchier to shift.. id love one too man, but its not gna happen unless you hit the lottery or youre driving a fiero haha.
I see posts like this all the time and just don't get it.

Before the TWM short shifter my transmission was fine but after it is almost too precise. The only gear that is not easy to get into is sixth and that is just slightly hard to get into.
