Default Applying Nissan Emblem to Front Bumper

I just bought a new OEM front bumper to replace a bumper the guy I bought it from had. I just had it painted. I was wondering on how do I transfer the emblems? I searched it but couldn't find how to reapply it, I found out how to take it off (hair dryer to soften the glue then pull it out with dental floss, right?)

Just buy a new emblem. You screwed up the adhesive side when you removed the old one. Spend the extra $15 and have a new emblem.

Search for threads on debadging.

Basic steps - heat with blow dryer. Work dental floss between emblem and body to cut through the double stick tabpe that holds it. Clean up with Goo-Gone to get rid of old tape residue.

He's reinstalling it, not removing.

You got the emblem off, right?Clean ALL the old adhesive off the back off the emblem.A razor blade, goo gone ...After you get it CLEAN,use rubbing alcohol to remove final traces of the old adhesive.Get some 3-M tape(double sided),
you can get at Home Depot etc.Its basically all the same, but I'd get the one
marked for mounting "exterior number/mailboxes etc.
Cut the tape in pieces that will match the shape of the emblem.Apply to the
back of the emblem.Wipe the mounting surface in the front bumper with alcohol.Peel off the red backing on the tape.Apply to the bumper.Press
to bond the emblem.

Sounds like GREAT advice. Just a few questions. I hear about using the razor blade but how does that not scratch up the paint? And are you talking about just the emblem for the razor blade?

Also by mounting tape do you mean something like http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...talogId=10053?

You have a new bumper, right?Just need to clean the indentation where the emblem goes. There is 2 small holes for the tips of the emblem--I guess these holes were put there to make it easy to slap the emblem on...NO RAZOR BLADE THERE.Use a razor blade, anything with a edge...small screw driver to help remove the old adhesive off the emblem.Take your time...use some goo gone to melt the old gunk...clean the remainder with alcohol until its clean.

The tape you sent info on in the wrong type.
YOU WANT 3-m ATTACHMENT TAPE FOR EXTERIOR USE.It has a RED backing.
ThE TAPE ITSELF IS GRAY.Its also available at all auto parts stores...PEP BOYS,ADVANCE ETC.

I'll take a wild guess. You may not a bit new on this kinda stuff.

No problem...no sense buying a new emblem when you old one is perfectly good.Maybe after awhile you could slap on a aftermarket emblem...take it off completely.
Who knows?

Hey Bud..I checked the H.Depot w.site...they handle SCOTCH INDOOR/OUTDOOR MOUNTING TAPE MODEL 411.
Same stuff as 3M.
This is what you need.

My bad, exaggerated the price.

Now it's also your chance to buy a different emblem, as well. I personally would only put a new emblem on a freshly painted bumper. That's just me, though.

Yes...depending on the temp.
I always use a hairdryer to heat the surfaces.
When you press the emblem on,give the surface of the emblem some
heat from the hair dryer. This will allow the adhesive to bond.
