Default Looking for suggestions - dog scratched console

See pictures. I'm getting ready to sell the car and want to fix this but I am not very skilled at doing this stuff (never tried anything like this before), so looking for some inexpensive ideas to make this look nice. A friend suggested taking it off, sanding it down and painting it silver. T

What does "inexpensive" mean?Yeah, you could take it off and paint it.Will the dog still ride in your car?If you paint, better do something durable. How important is the looks of your interior to you?You could get a carbon fiber shifter cover.Or,buy a part from a dash kit and install over the scratches(it installs with 3-m tape).
I have the same AT setup in my car.Check my veh pics for sorta a "before & after".

Someone is SURE to recommend using Plasti Dip ! lol

Plasti Dip it bro!

Sanding and painting it wouldn't be bad, but you'd have to do it for the entire waterfall and you'd maybe want to consider the window control console thing as well.

You could look for a replacement part in the marketplace or buy a pre-cut sticker or get some Di-Noc for it.

There are a lot of options, it just kind of depends what you're looking for.

Plasti Dip the dog... that way his nails will not cause any further damage.

Or spend a few bucks on a new part so your re-sale value doesn't go down after you do some ghetto plasti-dip fix

I would like to keep it around $100-200. Im getting ready to list the car for sale, so durability is not the main concern, the appearance is. I obviously don't want it to look cheezy, but at some point its just not a good ROI to spend a few hundred $$. Unfortunately I am not a do it your selfer, but am willing to try it if its simple

Was thinking,if your dog did that to the shifter area, what do your seats look like? You are planning selling your car?Better hope the buyer is not too particular.Since you are not a DIY'ER,I'd go for something that will MATCH the interior,at the same time be easy to do.I suggest you buy a piece from a dash kit(carbon fiber)this would cover the flat shifter area including the part around the drive indicators. The sides of the shifter console would have to be touched up...hey,use that black Magic Marker!
Contact CARid.com.They sell dash kits for the 350.Look at the schematic of parts.Order just the parts that you need.Easy to do...clean the console(alcohol),peel off the baking on the dash kit parts, apply.Use the M Marker
around the sides.

Thanks for the ideas. I appreciate it. Yeah the dog got the passenger seat a little bit but its not too bad (hopefully the buyer will agree). I love my pup too much to leave him at home every day while I go to work. I was thinking about the carbon fiber option. Ill look into that site. How could I not let him in the car?

Hmm . Whatever happened to "honesty" lol. You can wrap it in 3m di-noc to help the potential buyer out a bit.

How is that dishonest. Its like selling a house and not doing 100% of the repairs needed before you sell it. An educated buyer will see that its been redone.

Default this

SEM Flex-coat paint, SEM sand free, and soap (to clean them up first and get all grease, dirt, debris, etc. off)

You don't have to be good at painting for this stuff to work. Just take the time to prep it up right (no sanding just cleaning). The scratches don't look like they're dug into the plastic so it just looks like you need a coat of paint.

I know you mentioned you're not a do it yourself'er but why not spend the $20 and paint and fix it. Might just save yourself $80-100.....

I don't know that you can find them there. I had to but mine from a automotive paint specialty store. You'll most likely end up buying them online.

I purchased three separate products....
39362 - SEM Soap
38363 - SEM Sand Free

the last part is the color. SEM Color Coat and then you can pick the color that most matches your dash. I used Satin Black - 15243

yeah those look correct to me although the picture of the cans for the color coat look different than the one on the website and the one that I have at home....

It may be the same thing, but I was just giving the heads up that it looked different...here's the link from the SEM sight
