Default ditched the z

Hey guys,

i have been around the forms for a little wile now just soaking up the knowledge. But I now have a question that I cant find the answer to. Recently I had to avoid an over the line driver and ditched my Z. It suffered damage to the front clip and hood. The body shop where it is at has to order a new hood and the one they are ordering is aluminum. The one that was on it when I bought it was fiberglass, is the fiberglass one a factory hood? It is a 2004 enthusiast.

The stock one is not fiberglass. The underside reinforcement is a composite material iirc.

Yes, the stock bonnets, on all 350's and on the 370's are aluminium. Incidentally the aluminium bonnets are usually lighter than CF, and other options.

Good luck getting them to buy an actual factory hood though. Most insurance companies will supply an "OE replacement"-which should still be aluminum-but for a fraction of cost to the insurance co. Unless youre car is an 09+, you might have to fight them on getting the real deal.

That depends on your insurance company. Reputable insurance companies in which you pay premium will not use anything but factory OEM.

thanks guys. I checked with the body shop that is doing the work and they said that the hood isn't OEM but it is very similar. Im also going to keep the old fiberglass one and practice my skills at designing a scoop
