Default Demon eye LEDs.. i need some advice please.

I am working on my headlights right now and bought all sorts of crap for them from the retrofit source...imrunning 3 ccfl halos inside the Iron Man shroud.. one wasnt bright enuff.. i want DRL bright white. i will write a sick thread w tons of big hi res pictures...but for now....

question to those who have done the RED glowing led demon eye mod....

I read the thread located here:
https://my350z.com/forum/body-interi...eadlights.html

but i see some things that alarm me.. and still a bit unclear on how it worked out. By playing around w them and trying to find reflection patterns that work best, its really all over the map.
It appears that the demon eye look happens when the leds light remains in the lens bowl, and NOT back in the reflector bowl...
I figured id buy TWO leds for each lens because I'm captain overkill...
but I cant get this thing bright at all.
It appears that the LEDs i bought are extremely directional and are almost like laser pointers straight out the tip... no homo.
The OP in the other thread opened the projector up as I have already done myself.. and drilled a hole

I took some better photos myself of the area the other OP drilled his hole.. but it puts that led right in the top cut off path of the HID beam....eeesh.
Dunno if i want to obstruct the HID w all the cash ive3 spent getting these bright and high quality.
Plus it would get BOMBARDED by heat... and i am NOT opening these up again.

When these leds go out, thats how i will be leaving them.

Any advice on proper placement or different styles of LED i should be using would be GREATLY appreciated.. and fast please.. i gotta get this moving asap.

leds i have.. are these bunk or no?

top of the projector.. reflector bowl/bulb mount removed..heres where that other OP drilled his LED hole.

the front of the lens bowl, you can see where that LED would just stick right into this cut of... dunno if i want to do that.

The back side of the housing front... again, you can see where drilling that hole thru this would stick it right in the beam pattern.. and I anint gonna do that.. Name: photobucket-3483-1323227462210.jpg

If theres no better way, i will pass.

I dont even really 100% love the look, but im already into these lights.. so i figured id do it now if ever.......but i think itd be cool to hook to my dome light so itd glow until i got to my car in the parking lot.
who the fug knows.. let me know if you ahve experience w this.. Cincity does it and its bright as hell.. and i aint calling them for advice.

With those LEDs you can sand down the outside, kinda rough them up a bit. It will help diffuse the light more evenly.

the angle im not sure of precisely, but i do know that there is VERY little radial light and that when you stare directly at the tip ( again, no homo haha), its piercingly bright.

I was thinking that perhaps i just had the wrong type of LED.. if theres something better out there.. by all means let me know.. i am NOT known for skimping on ANYTHING, EVER.

thanks for the replies so far..i appreciate it for sure.

also, would dremeling the tip flat help out at all?

Ive been looking around to see if using aluminum polish to polish the front prjector bowl is beneficial or detrimental.. im sure it would have to be sealed somehow if i did so as it will still oxidize.. ill likely leave it alone.

Still, im just trying to think of anything that would help.

the way mine are done is a little different. I have an led strip in front of the lens (so you can see it if you stand right above the car and look down at the headlight.) the leds are pointed at the leds so not only does it glow red but there is a circle of red dots reflecting off the lens which I think looks great.

I have seen people doing interior LED conversions on various cars where the stock bulbs were incandescent and they had sanded the entire surface of the LED and then filed the top flat in order to get a better dispersion from the LED. I have personally sanded LEDs for better light pattern. If you use a fine grit it is the equivalent to putting a bulb cover on it.

That should be pretty effective.

If you plan on wiring it to your dome light won't it blink or something as the dome light dims?

the strip that I have is actually a multi color strip. so if you want just red it won't be the same as mine. I didn't do the install (I didn't trust myself doing this with $1,400 headlights) I shipped them over to Flipper Z (great guy) so he can give you more info on the install then I can. As for the lenght of them working..I've had them for a month now (drive with them on blue all the time day and night with no problems. The strip is in front on the lens so they dont get as hot as they would if you put them behind the lens and next to the bulb so hopefully they should last quite some time. Hope that helps and heres another vid

not if you use a simlpe bosch relay.

the leds get full direct power from the battery etc until the signal from the dome light trigger is too weak and then it shuts off the relay like a switch.

cool beans.. i talked to him.. seems like a simple deal.. the big kick is reassembly of these things.. i should be fine tho.. iafter spending time w these lights opened up, they are just a big plastic toy. Nothing to be afraid of at ALL.

I mean it, i know ppl say it all the time.. but its really one of those projects that you start and it really goes well if you are prepared and do it the right way.. its not a project that you start and then hear something snap and go " aaah sh#t".. and are now stuck w a heap of trash instead of a light.

Its really simple.
Plus I bought the same sealant they use OEM to replace whats on there now.. Oxy Butyl rubber "glue".. it will never dry out like silicone..

Im going to run w the single color red and wire it to the leds in question in the beginning of the thread jsut to fill out the lens better.

thanks for all the tips so far guys.. I prmise to the vets who passed this thread by that I will not succumb to full rice.. i jsut figured while im in here, why not add some stuff i can switch on later.. but not often of course.
