NEED Advice: Changing the Seats in 2008 350z
Hey guys, I bought a 2008 silver 350z about a year ago already and I'm just now starting to get in to the whole customization of the car. The first thing I was not too crazy about in the car was the cloth seats it had. Im not sure how possible it would be to buy used leather seats from an audi tt or R8 and place them in my Z. I dont see there being a HUGE difference in size, unless there are many more factors to consider when wanting to make such a frankenstein modification, but what do you all think? any advice?

you will have to transfer the weight sensor from the cushion of your passenger seat into the new seats and be able to attach your factory seatbelt plugs so that those sensors can be plugged in. Also, you will need rails to mount to your new seats that will match up to the holes in the floor of the z.
Neither of those are impossible, but it's not direct plug and play at all.

I'm far from an expert, but I'd be wary about mixing and matching air bags. It's possible to make it work, but you'd probably be better off just not hooking them up. You can wire in a resistor to get rid of the airbag light on the dash that will pop up.
Have you considered aftermarket seats? Recaro, Corbeau, Bride, and others all make reclinable seats that look and feel great.

you could just pick up a pair of oem leather seats on the forum.. There's a lot of people who change to aftermarket seats, so im sure they have their oem leathers laying around...Or you could jump on aftermarkets yourself.. Do a bit of searching to see what works and what people have

I agree with the people saying 350z seats or rewrapping would be much easier!
The 2007/8 are a pain to swap seats in from none 2007/8 Z seats because of the weight sensor. Aftermarket seats must have the sensors relocated into the new seats (took care of this in my Bride reps) and Z seats must have the sensors swapped in (not the end of the world, but you have to take the covers of the seat of passenger's seat). I've seen some "fouler methods" like wrappign the sensors in zip ties to be "always on" but they seem to stop working or not be that effective. I just say relocate them into the new seats/cushions.

I considered looking into the aftermarket seats, the only thing about that is that they tend to be rather expensive, as opposed to getting seats from a salvage title R8, TT, or even S5. Especially because I've already found a handful of vehicles with the salvage title and with the crimson-red leather seats that I would prefer. The only thing would be getting the seats from the seller for a price within my budget, and well dealing with the troubles of the weight sensors and everything else, blegh
