Default How much to get oem headlights replaced?

My right headlight has burned out. I was told that because these are HID headlights, its not a simple swap out, that it could be the light thats burned out or the ballast (sp?).

Either way, I'm not qualified nor have the equipment to figure out what to do. One shop quoted me $60 to diagnose the problem. Is this a fair price?

Also, where can I search for to get OEM stock headlights back for this car? I saw plenty of listings on Ebay but I cant tell which will give me the stock 'white' light that I'm used to. Ive seen many aftermarket lights which are blue or some other color which I cant stand. I apologize if this is the wrong forum to post this, but I appreciate the help

Since you are in the S.East,I'd call Z-1 Motorsports in Carrolton Ga(near Atlanta).
They have tons of used parts...prices and shipping are great. They are Z guys, will know what you want.
Never buy this kind of part at a dealer! You will get clipped!

Hey,one more time...
Noted you live in Nashville.See Crawford Z,1622 State st,615-327-4159(ask for Doug).
He can do the install...may even have a headlight unit.Doug is very reasonable when it comes to price.

I never have taken my car to a dealer. The $60 quote I got was from a local repair shop. In any case, I'll give Doug a call tomorrow, see what his estimate/etc is. Thanks

whats exactly wrong with it? if its the bulb that burnt out, it should've turned a purpleish hue before it went out. if its the ballast, then the box on the bottom needs to be replaced. but i'd check for corrosion on the ballast ground. hid bulbs arent cheap in comparison, but you can get them for roughly 60 a pop, just make sure its the correct type because the 03-05 use a different d2 bulb than the 06+

Yep ^^ dis be da troof.

guys, he isnt asking for a full headlight, just a bulb.

if HID, you nbeed to look for a DS2, in 4300k to 6k max.
That will give you the stock look to a slightly whiter look.
Garax is good, so are the ones from Diodedynamics.com

Dont buy the super cheap ones off ebay, shop for the mid range.

I called doug and he wanted $75 just to diagnose whether it was the light or the ballast. He said it would be about $900 if its the ballast, and $170 or so if its just the headlight.

Im not sure what i should do to proceed. I didnt realise one headlight can be THIS expensive to replace. Also, my bright lights and accessory lights all work just fine. Does that give any indication if the balast is broken or not?

If you want to try yourself.....here's a link for instructions...the pics have been removed. Mainly replacing hi-beam but the low beam removal can be used with these instructions. Use gloves when handling the bulbs.

Just in case...here's a link for your headlight adjustment.

Good Luck!
